Upcoming Events at Springhill Group Florida Home Care


Veterans Appreciation Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Parade lineup will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave. in downtown Brooksville.

Parking will be available in the adjacent lot on Orange Avenue. The public is encouraged to walk with the veterans to express thanks for their heroic deeds. First Baptist Church of Brooksville will conduct Operation Christmas Child from Nov. 14 to 21. All churches and individuals are welcome to drop off their shoeboxes at the church, 420 Howell Ave., Brooksville. The package should be a standard-size shoebox or a small, plastic container for shoes and indicate if the gift is for a boy or a girl and the age category - 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. First United Methodist Church will hold a Family Movie Night from 6 to 9 p.m. today in fellowship hall of the church, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. The movie "Cars 2″ will be shown, and spaghetti dinner with a beverage will be available for $1 per person. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the movie will begin at 6:45 p.m. Free popcorn will be served, and kids can attend in pajamas - bring blankets and pillows. Pasco-Hernando Community College will present Collaborate for a Cause: Homelessness Outreach Project for Empowerment (HOPE) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at PHCC's North Campus, 11415 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Brooksville. The event will feature speakers from various local organizations who will discuss the homelessness crisis in the district, as well as the local support and services available. The project is a collaborative effort with Saint Leo University, focusing on homelessness in both Pasco and Hernando counties. The event is free and is open to the public. VFW Post 9236 will hold Santa's Workshop from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 26 at the post, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach. Children will make ornaments recognizing service members that are serving overseas to be hung on the tree Dec. 17 during the post's carnival and tree lighting. Library programs

National Gaming Day will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive. Board games for all ages will be available. As part of the celebration, Poor Rich's Chess Club will introduce and instruct children ages 5-15 on how to play chess. Chess instruction will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the meeting room. Brooksville Book Discussion Group will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Main Library, 238 Howell Ave., Brooksville. The topic of conversation will be "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford. The plot of the book moves back and forth between the 1980s and the 1940s. The debut novel explores the age-old conflicts between father and son, the beauty and sadness of what happened to Japanese Americans in the Seattle area during World War II, and the tenderness of first love during a time of difficult choices and painful events. AAA Spring Hill will hold a Homeowners Discount Workshop from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at its Spring Hill office in the Hernando West Plaza, 1410 Pinehurst Drive, off Spring Hill Drive, just east of U.S. 19. Sales
Brooksville Regional Hospital Auxiliary will host a sheet sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 and 18 at the hospital, 17240 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. A variety of colors and sizes will be available, such as twin, double, queen and king. Ethnic

African American Club of Hernando County will host a meet-and-greet picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Delta Woods Park, 3400 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill.
